自1967年成立以来,太平船务从经营散货运输发展成为东南亚最大的集装箱船东之一 ,核心业务覆盖亚洲,非洲和中东地区。目前,太平船务在世界集装箱班轮公司中名列第12位,集装箱班轮和散货运输服务网络覆盖全球100个国家500多个地点,并在全球拥有18,000多名员工和船员。太平船务集团拥有及运营一支由 156膄总舱位为348, 536 标准箱的现代化商船组成的船队。作为太平船务全新建设项目的一部分,8艘全新集装箱船将于2017年至2018年, 投入服务。
2020年初,太平船务深陷财务困境。先是1月份,因向燃料供应商付款缓慢,传出旗下船舶被扣的消息。接着,今年3月,太平船务在完成最后一次跨太平航线的运营后,正式退出跨太平洋航线市场。转而将业务重心,放在非洲、中东/红海、印度次大陆、拉丁美洲和大洋洲等南北贸易航线上。此外,太平船务今年还出售了多艘船舶,同时出售了其持有的一家名为Pacific Direct Line(PDL)的航运公司的股份。这些举措被业界解读为,“太平船务现金流紧张,正急于筹措资金”。甚至一度有传言,太平船务将申请破产。2020年5月,太平船务获得新加坡国有投资公司淡马锡注资。
2021年,收益于集装箱航运市场的繁荣,太平船务偿还债务,逐渐走出困境。 |
