Veder to order ice class LNG carrier for Gasum con

Gasum, the Finnish energy group and Anthony Veder, the Dutch shipping company, have signed an agreement for a long-term time charter of an ice Class 1A Super LNG carrier newbuilding. "The 18,000 cbm vessel will be built at German shipyard Neptun Werft and delivered in the last quarter of 2017," Gasum said in a statement. "Gasum and Anthony Veder have agreed on a long-term time charter for a state of the art 18,000 cbm LNG carrier. The vessel will be constructed at German shipyard Neptun Werft, which is a subsidiary of the Meyer Neptun Group," Gasum said. Gasum will use the vessel to ship gas to the two LNG terminals In Finland which are currently being constructed, the one at Tahkoluoto in Pori is due to be completed in 2016 and Röyttä in Tornio should come online two years later. Gasum develops the Finnish and Nordic energy infrastructure by investing in the LNG market, biogas business and transport services. The company is the leading supplier of biogas in Finland. Gasum feeds biogas into the gas network from Espoo, Kouvola, and Lahti. In February 2014 Gasum announced that it will acquire the majority of the LNG distribution business of the Norwegian company Skangass. The transaction was completed in May 2014. Skangass continues to strengthen the position of LNG and the broader utilisation of new solutions in Finland, Sweden and Norway. Anthony Veder is a privately owned Dutch shipping company that specialises in gas transport, with its head office in Rotterdam. It currently has a fleet of 28 lng and lpg carriers.
